Justice B Siva Sankara Rao of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the Andhra Pradesh authorities to take into consideration objections of farmers from Bethapudi, Navalooru and Yerrabaalem in Guntur district before taking their land for the capital city.
The judge was dealing with scores of petitions by farmers who complained that the state was not taking up a social impact survey before acquiring land, as was mandated by the Land Acquisition Act 2013. The judge gave six weeks to the authorities to comply with the land acquisition norms.
