Former SC judge voices doubts over land acquisition process

“The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments have attempted to get their own Land Acquisition Acts framed in violation of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act of 2013 to suit their needs and that it was in violation of the spirit of Constitution. This appears to be the case of pooling of nearly 33,000 acres of fertile lands in Amaravati for the construction of a grand capital city, he observed,” says V. Gopala Gowda, the retired judge of the Supreme Court.
